Before I explain what my next adventure is (most of you probably already know), I must first apologize for not posting a blog last week. I understand how vital my weekly Sunday night posts are to each and every one of you, and the human race as a whole, so it was no surprise when the entire internet threw its collective arms up in disgust after seeing Lone Wolf remain dark all of Sunday night.
I selfishly decided to take the week off because I started a 16-hour drive to Silverthorne, Colorado bright and early on Sunday morning. Could I have written something earlier in the week and scheduled it for the usual time? Jason, that’s a terrific question, and the answer is undoubtedly yes.
So why didn’t I? I wish you hadn’t asked. I don’t have an excuse, and as I’m sitting here typing, my brain is much too exhausted from learning how health insurance works (why do I have to turn 26 in a few months?) to pull something out of my butt like I usually do.
I promise I’ll make it up to you though. It won’t be tonight – I haven’t had much time to write this week because I moved to Colorado and spent as much time hiking as possible – but it will be sometime soon.
I accepted a seasonal job in Silverthorne (about 70 miles west of Denver) for the winter, where I’m going to be driving a shuttle between Denver International Airport and some of the ski resorts in the area. I started training on Tuesday, and much like my job on Mackinac, I think it has a chance to be very fun.
I drove through this area on my way to Utah back in March, and I was blown away by the beauty of the mountains, so this is a great opportunity for me to explore the area more. I don’t technically start driving for another week yet, so I’ve taken advantage of the extra free-time by getting my camera out a bunch.
Since there are vastly more things to see and do here compared to Mackinac (and I replaced my camera that was broken for most of the summer), I’m going to focus more on photography and making videos. I’ve been posting pictures on my Instagram every night, and I also plan on posting new Youtube videos every week or so.
On top of that, I’m also in the process of making my very first documentary. It’s going to be a spectacular multi-episode event, and I already finished editing the first episode. I likely won’t post any of it until later in the spring when I have a clearer direction of the story, but I promise it’s going to be a riveting drama. A true Jason Mathes masterpiece – dry, sarcastic, and satirical.
With all of that going on, and with a good potential of work keeping me busy, I may not have time to write a quality blog about dead seals or my much improved bowel movements every week. I’ll still try my best to write something every Sunday, but don’t get too upset with me if I’m not consistent with it.
